"Sam Ryder: TikTok star to sing Space Man for UK at Eurovision 2022"
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/newsbeat-60647606

Sam Ryder the TikTok star is going to be representing the UK in this year's Eurovision, he is one of the most followed singers on TikTok in the UK with about 12 million fans, he also has a large following on Facebook and Instagram. When everyone went into lockdown Sam uploaded covers on TikTok which caught the eye of Justin Bieber and Alicia Keys and they both loved his singing. He is going to preform his song "Space Man"  at the grand final, he told Radio 1 Newsbeat "i love Eurovision.  I think it's such a privilege to be able to do it". He co-wrote his song with grammy-winning songwriter, Amy Wage who has also worked with Ed Sheeran and other famous artists. Sam is following two consecutive years of the UK placing last in Eurovision and to this he said "i don't want to let the stigma or fear of coming at a certain place in a table to stop me from doing something and being a part of something that i enjoy so much". In 2019, Michael Rice came bottom with ballad Bigger Than Us and in 2021 James Newman's entry Embers received "nil points', and the 2020 contest got cancelled which means Sam has a lot of pressure to place any higher than that. Sam's song is currently 3:40 minutes which means it is 40 seconds longer than the Eurovision limit so he will be preforming a shortened version which is the one that is already being played on radio stations. Sam Fender went on This Morning and spoke about TikTok, Eurovision and also his song Space Man and appears quite enthusiastic and confident about it, he says "my enthusiasm is greater than my fear". The Eurovision grand final contest will be broadcasted on BBC One and BBC iplayer and also on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds on May 14 from 8pm.
