Representation- the media offers the audience an interpretation of the world. It is a re presentation of the events, people and places.
Stereotypical- a stereotype is a generalised representation of a person, place or a thing. They are limited and often offensive or used for comedy.
stereotypes:
Nanny- old, female, rude
Nurse- female, kind, middle aged/young
Teenager- lazy, rude, moody
Astronaut- male, middle aged, white
Football player- male, young/middle aged, rich
Opera fan- old, female, boring
Teacher- female, middle aged, boring
Tattoo lover- male, dangerous, messy
- It is showing how men can be nurses as well
- It shows just because you enjoy surfing or playing the guitar doesn't mean you still can't be a nurse
- It is representing nurses as fit and strong people but nurses are usually seen as weak
If they did an 'educating cornwall' documentary what stereotypes would there be?
