Genre is the term for any category of literature or entertainment, based on a set of common conventions.
Science Fiction - New technology, the future, time travel, space travel, spaceships - Star Trek, The Martian
Horror - Painful, intense fear, dread, dismay astonishment giving place to horror - IT, Purge
Action - Explosions, car chases, fistfights, shootouts - Black Widow, Tenet
Musical - Singing, humour, pathos, love, movement, music, dancing - SIX, Hamilton
Comedy - Misconceptions, arguments, happy endings, fun - Instant family, Free Guy
Genre - Mystery
Film title - Death In My City
Equilibrium: set in America (Detroit), the three main characters are going to school on a normal day
Disruption: someone from the main three gets murdered
Recognition of disruption: the other two found their body in the middle of the school field
Attempt to solve disruption: the two and the police attempt to solve the murder but it was unsolvable and named as an accident
New equilibrium: the best friends solve it, but become best friends with the murderer
